SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) – Is Your Internet Freedom at Risk?
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), is a hotly contested bill that threatens free speech and would provide the US government with overreaching ability to censor the Internet. While it is easy to side with the spirit of the bill, as currently written SOPA can have a devastating impact on users, technology companies, and the Internet as a whole.
Under SOPA internet service providers, would be under greater pressure to not just monitor, but police their users’ activities. Think about it. Websites you visit regularly, including your favorite websites, or even your own websites, whether it is operated inside or outside of the United States could be blocked based simply on an infringement claim! Simply put, this is a battle for the future of the Internet as we know it. The opposition to SOPA from online businesses and community at large is just heating up and the fight appropriately being carried out across the Internet. With the second round of congressional hearings set for early January, you can expect SOPA to be a lively debate in the days ahead.
If you’re against SOPA the time is now to contact your Congressional members and speak up. You can CLICK HERE for a full list of House of Representatives and CLICK HERE for a list of Senators.

Webair’s Joe Horowitz- Wins Gosling’s Invitational Crown at Belmont Hills
Webair Brand Ambassador and Professional Golfer Joe Horowitz took to the course this past weekend and won his second First Place Finish in the past 3 years at Gosling’s Invitational Crown at Belmont Hills in Bermuda.
Joe Horowitz Won the 2011 Gosling’s Invitational and the first place $12,000 check. North Carolina resident Gray Yancey won the Open Amateur Title and Eric “Hav” Trott turned back the clock to capture the Senior’s title.
Three years ago Horowitz shared the trophy with Mike Donald in a battle that ended up finishing in the dark. As a result both players agreed to share the Trophy. Horowitz will have none of that this time around and came to Bermuda with one thing on mind, to win the title outright. After blistering the course on the first day with a 6 under 64 it was clear that this was going to be a special week.
Congratulations Joe on your well deserved victory!!!

Advantages of High Availability Cloud Servers
The Cloud has been a buzz word in the technology world for sometime now. But what exactly does hosting on a Cloud Server mean for you and your business? What are some of the advantages that Cloud Servers offer?
If you are serious about your business you must be serious about your web hosting. High Availability Cloud Servers provide a distinct advantage over traditional shared or dedicated server hosting by eliminating single points of failure which in turn increases your overall uptime. Your Cloud Server can take full advantage of the high speed and reliability previously gained only with expensive dedicated enterprise storage solutions as data is stored across multiple physical SAN nodes providing maximum redundancy.
Advantages of High Availability Cloud Servers:
- You receive guaranteed Cloud Hosting resources such as CPU, memory, network bandwidth, and IOps. These resource allocations can far exceed what traditional single server solutions can provide.
- Truly dedicated and protected resources while eliminating all single points of failure.
- Cloud Servers are EASY to upgrade when needed and are scalable to meet your needs as your business grows.
- Harnesses the redundancy to keep your Cloud Servers up and running without downtime!
- Improve overall speed and load times of your websites which is increasingly important for good ranking with Google and other search engines.
Cloud computing has catapulted to a top priority as organizations push for a faster, better and more cost-effective technology delivery model. Today, many forward-thinking businesses are using Cloud Servers to take advantage of the increased scalability, agility, automation, and efficiency that this technology can deliver.
It’s time to consider how your business would benefit from the advantages of hosting on High Availability Cloud Servers. Can you afford not to?

Webair participates in World IPv6 day on June 8th!
Webair is pleased to announced that after a 3 month deployment project it has successfully integrated IPv6 support throughout its global networks. Webair has already allocated a large number of IPv6 addresses to existing and new clients who wish to utilize the new Internet protocol. We are now encouraging our customers to test and and integrate IPv6 into their applications and services by providing free IPv6 allocations.
Users can view our website (www.webair.com) via IPv6 by visiting http://ipv6.webair.com. Additionally, our secure control panel is also available via IPv6 at https://ipv6.cp.webair.com. Do those IPv6 links work for you? If so, you’re already IPv6 enabled and should thank your ISP for being cutting edge and thinking ahead! If the links don’t work then we’re sorry, but your ISP does not yet support IPv6.
On World IPv6 Day, we’ll be taking the next big step! Together with major web companies such as Google, Facebook, and Yahoo!, we will enable IPv6 on our main websites for 24 hours. During that time http://www.webair.com and http://cp.webair.com will also be reachable via IPv6. This is a crucial phase in the transition, because while IPv6 is widely deployed in many networks, it’s never been used at such a large scale before. We hope that by working together with a common focus, we can help the industry prepare for the new protocol, find and resolve any unexpected issues, and pave the way for global deployment. Check out http://www.worldipv6day.org/ for more details on World IPv6 Day.
Webair will also be participating in an NYC IPv6 meetup on June 8th to discuss it’s IPv6 integration process and deployments.
How big is IPv4 compared to IPv6? IPv4 supports 4.5 billion usable IPs, while IPv6 supports 340 undecillion addresses. To put that into perspective, there are more IPv6 address than molecules in the solar system!! Webair is happy to provide our clients with a standard allocation of a few billion addresses for clients to play around with (is that enough for you?)
Contact us today if you’d like to learn more about IPv6 or enable it on your hosting account!.

The Webair Dedicated Cloud Server Platform is designed for better performance and a more cost-effective alternative to traditional dedicated servers. CPU, Memory, and Disk IOps are guaranteed and upgradable, thus removing the rigidity typically found with physical servers while maintaining dedication of resources. By eliminating all single points of failure, it is the most reliable single server solution. The system is completely transparent, no changes are needed for clients who traditionally manage and interact with their servers. Webair’s proprietary hosting platforms make it easy for clients to modify their accounts between shared hosting, physical servers, VPS, Cloud and globally diverse load balanced clusters while maintaining the same software configuration and IP addresses.
“Cloud server technology is an area of tremendous growth because of the flexibility and reliability it provides,” said Michael C. It eliminates the traditional hosting headaches such as hardware failure, RAID issues and capacity planning. Since its launch, Webair’s cloud storage network has enabled clients to scale their backend with a simple “pay as you go” pricing structure. By utilizing this proven technology, Webair’s dedicated cloud servers contain all the same benefits.
Each Dedicated Cloud Server Hosting plan includes fully featured control panels, e-commerce software, one-click installs of common software, unlimited e-mail and the award-winning 24/7/365 support via live chat or phone that is the foundation of the solid reputation Webair has earned for over 15 years of bringing new technologies to clients first.

Webair and EnerNOC Turn Data Centers Into “Virtual Power Plants” Through Demand Response
NEW YORK, NY (March 9, 2011) – Webair, in collaboration with leading energy management firm EnerNOC, will contribute to the creation of a “virtual power plant” by strategically controlling energy usage in its data centers. This program, known as demand response, is the latest energy efficiency project in Webair’s “WE CARE” initiative, a venture designed to support the environment and the community.
Webair employs backup generators to ensure that customers experience no downtime, and routinely tests these generators to further safeguard against outages. By participating in demand response with EnerNOC, Webair will be able to align its testing and use of backup generation with the needs of the electricity grid. When called upon by EnerNOC, Webair will use its backup generators to provide additional capacity during times of peak energy usage or when there are other stresses on the system. Through its participation in demand response, Webair provides a clean, cost-effective alternative to using fossil-fuel-fired power plants to support grid stability.
Demand response not only helps reduce CO2 emissions from power plants, but also does so without additional impact on Webair’s carbon footprint. EnerNOC will purchase carbon credits to offset any emissions produced by Webair during a demand response dispatch, making this initiative entirely carbon-neutral. In addition, Webair will derive additional insights about its electricity usage through complimentary smart metering equipment and EnerNOC’s web-based DemandSMART™ demand response application. Real-time energy monitoring as well as long-term usage tracking will contribute to more efficient overall operations.
Webair’s participation in demand response will enable it to continue providing world-class service to customers around the globe, while also contributing to a more stable, sustainable and secure grid.
About EnerNOC:
EnerNOC unlocks the full value of energy management for utility and commercial, institutional and industrial (C&I) customers by reducing real-time demand for electricity, increasing energy efficiency, improving energy supply transparency in competitive markets and mitigating emissions through world-class energy management applications. For more information, visit www.enernoc.com.
